Relaxing technique -Psychology

I felt like sharing a technique that my school counselor (also my psychology ma’am) once suggested me to do whenever I felt stressed . It works even in anxiety’s case.

I have tried this method many times and it’s been very affective and helpful. It is followed as-

  1. Take a deep breath and close your eyes. At the count of 3 open your eyes and try to see 5 different things around you.
  2. Take another deep breath and close your eyes. At the count of 3 open your eyes and taste 4/5 different food products. It could chocolate, sugar, salt or anything.
  3. Take another deep breath and close your eyes. At the count of 3 open your eyes and try to hear 5 different sounds. Let all those sounds reach your ears. Concentrate on them.
  4. Now, relax. And if required, practice more deep breathing .
